Cairn Terrier Central

Why in the world is there another blog about Cairn Terriers?

Three reasons:
  • I love Cairn Terriers.
  • There is way too much misinformation about the breed spread throughout the Internet.
  • Finally, the three lovable faces in the photo. From left to right: Bo (16), whom we lost in April 2007, Rosie (just turned 16), & Windsor (17).

This blog is your best resource for information about this wonderful terrier. The information will be as accurate and up-to-date as I can make it.

To begin to learn about the Cairn Terrier and any other breed starts with a visit to the national kennel clubs: the American Kennel Club, the Canadian Kennel Club, the Kennel Club UK. Almost every country will have a national level club; just search for it. These national organizations contain a wealth of information on all recognized breeds for each kennel club. Don't worry, the Cairn is listed in every country with a national club--I hope.

The next stop are the national breed clubs. I'm a member of the Cairn Terrier Club of America. And a long time member of the Potomac Cairn Terrier Club. (Full disclosure, if you haven't read my profile, I'm also the current president of the Potomac Cairn Terrier Club. I'm also a member of the PCTC Rescue Committee.) The CTCA has affiliate clubs, including PCTC, all over the Unites States. As this blog grows, I hope to see members from those clubs posting here and linking to their clubs' sites.

If you want the best, most accurate information about the breed--anything from health issues to grooming to training--it will be here or at one of these sites.

If you have any questions, ask. I'll do my best to get it for you. If you found information anywhere else on the Internet that you want clarified or verified, just let me know. I'll get on it.

I'm a very lucky guy, because I have some of the most knowledgeable Cairn Terrier breeders in the country I can call on to help me help you.

I will post at least one short article weekly.

C'mon Cairn lovers, let me know what you want!

Cheers,
John
